**The Illusion🪩 of Should**

There’s a subtle arrogance in believing that reality should conform to personal expectations. When we say, “This shouldn’t have happened,” what we truly mean is, This event did not align with what I wanted or expected. But why would reality owe us alignment? Who granted us authority over existence?
The reality is, everything that should have happened, did—because it did. And accepting this truth is liberating. Resisting reality drains power. The more we dwell on victimization or perceived injustice, the less energy we have to act meaningfully in the world.
Reality is a system of symbols—an unfolding message. If we see it that way, we can use it, instead of fighting it. Every experience, even the unexpected, holds information. The sooner we accept what is, the sooner we can engage with what to do next.
And what of telling others they should or shouldn’t do something? If everything is predetermined, then what people do is simply what should happen. And if reality is undetermined, then should is just a personal preference—one based on partial knowledge.
Instead of declaring what should be, ask: What is this moment informing me of? And then act—not from entitlement, but from understanding.
